Brevvenn i norsk fengsel

Det har ikke skjedd mye på denne bloggen de siste årene - men vi skriver fortsatt brev, jobber nå med å utarbeide en ny hjemmeside, og har et videoprosjekt rett rundt hjørnet.

Etter å ha blitt kontaktet med idéen om at det er folk i norske fengsel også som ønsker brevvenn vil vi nå også tipse dere om dette.

Hi my name is Leonard and I’m trying this in hopes to make a friend. I’m 33 years old and am incarcerated for theft. I should be in Community Correction (halfway house) in 2017. I was born in Lodi, California and moved to Denver in 1994. I’ve lived here ever since and now it is my home.

I enjoy being outdoors, snowboarding, camping and attending all kinds of sporting events. However given my currently situation I’m very limited and make the best of it by working out, reading, writing and taking any educational class that is offered to me. I’ve been incarcerated for 3 years now and it went by really fast. I’m hoping to meet someone who will be my friend and correspond with me during this hard time. This place is supposed to break your spirit but I remain happy and optimistic through it all.

I have a very good sense of humor and believe that laughter is a must I’m not saying every day is joyful and fun; even when you’re free you have bad days. It does get lonely some days but those are the days I write to my mom or read my bible.

I’m hoping to make a friend who is loyal, trustworthy, and honest…for those are some of the qualities I possess. There is a lot more to me and I hope in some way you found me interesting. I’ll be looking forward to hearing from you and to us becoming friends.

Hello people!

My name is Kenny. I’m pretty new at this and not quite sure what someone might say in a profile. I suppose a good way to start is to describe myself.

I’m 6’2”, 200 pounds and 41 years young with an athletic build. My mom says “I’m cute”, but I don’t know if that counts. I think all moms have to say that. I enjoy listening to music. I’m kind of all over the map with that, but a true rock fan at heart.

Like the average man, I enjoy sports of all kinds and I’m even pretty good at most. I am a huge fan of the great outdoors and all of its recreational activities. “Sky diving” is definitely on my bucket list. I’m not a big TV guy but I do enjoy some shows (Vampire Diaries, Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother) just to name a few.

If I had to describe myself in 3 words they would be: Honest, Loving and Fun! I guess with this profile I would like to expand my horizons, meet some new people who would like to talk and share a few laughs and maybe become friends someday.

Hello, for starters, I would like to say I appreciate you stopping by my page to show some love! A little attention from time to time is always welcomed. To those close to me, I'm known as Jae, and I believe good people make bad decisions. I know I am one of those people! I wish I could have greeted you under better circumstances, but this is my reality.

The real, sole purpose of this page is to meet someone who knows, understands, and lives by loyalty! I'm looking to find a special person to help me take my mind off prison and someone who doesn’t mind me putting and keeping a smile on their face! Making the quality of life better for others is what I do here at the medical center. I devote my efforts to being a hospice volunteer providing comfort and care to many that have died and are dying from painful and sickening terminal medical issues. It's so important to them in here, going through treatment, to have friends. Being incarcerated as well myself with cancer I go through serious stages of sickness and pain. I spend my days here as productive as possible by putting others first. I love to make people smile and laugh. I have a great sense of love and caring that developed from my parents.

I plan on creating a nonprofit organization once I'm released that focuses on needy people in cancer patients that need support to make it through the suffering stages of cancer. I have found redemption and peace sitting beside many men's dads as I performed vigils and sadly watched with a crying heart their lives slip away. My soul has been broken and filled with joy that they don't have to suffer anymore.

A military friend said “I just wanted to save the world.” He meant that as much as I want to care for everybody. I look forward to finding compassionate friends who love and respect all races and cultures as I do.

I have written two professional screenplays and I am now looking for an agent to assist me with them. I'm presently working on my B.A. in Pastoral Ministry.

My name is Ryan. I'm 20 years old and I have been incarcerated since I was 18. Although this is my first prison term, I've spent a lot of time in and out of juvenile hall and group homes. This last amount of time that was given to me, helped me realize how much I've been wasting and missing out in life. I'm finally ready to do something different.

I've put distance between me and nearly everyone I once surrounded myself with and I am looking for new friends that can introduce me to new things. Prison issues can sometimes be overwhelming and easy to get lost in. I'd really like to take my attention off of the negativity, and put it towards getting to know someone. MEMORIES AND MOMENTS

That's all life's really about. The struggles and suffering we go through to create them mean very little when we get to that bit of happiness and joy. In that process we learned to cherish what we have, be proud of all we've earned, and grateful for what were given. I wish I had known these things before. But because I was caught up in the fast life, I didn't take notice of the simple, important things, such as family, friends, relationships, and more. I could give 1 million excuses but I still can't change anything… So forward is where I'm headed.

See, my journeys still beginning. I have faith I'll discover things that are rare and special. I'm open to learn the truth about anyone and anything, just as I have about myself. I'm no longer that 15 year old, wild thug that was put in these walls. I've grown to be responsible and deeply humbled with aspirations to succeed in love, life, and happiness. I'm only 24 so I know I've got a lot to experience before I reach my goal.

So that's my truth. Someday I would like to share with someone special, but so far, my truth hurts, so I'm hesitant to do so. Instead I'd rather share some laughs, smiles, maybe some secrets, and create new memories and moments.

Når man føkker opp

Nå har jeg ikke skrevet her inne på en stund, og det er mange grunner til at det har blitt sånn. Heldigvis har Monika vært flink til å oppdatere. En av grunnene mine til at lysten til å skrive har sittet litt lengre inne enn vanlig, er nok at jeg føler meg litt dust. Veldig egentlig.

Dere husker kanskje da jeg skrev om Bouncer? En venn av J, som veldig gjerne ønsket seg brevvenn. Jeg prøvde å skaffe han det, ved å skrive om han her, poste infoen hans også videre.. Og responsen var over all forventning! Mange virka interessert i å gi han en sjanse, og jeg var sikker på at flere – i alle fall ett – brev var på vei. Så, jeg gjorde noe jeg angrer veldig på i dag – jeg skrev det til min brevvenn J, at interessen hadde vært kjempestor og at Bouncer bare måtte glede seg.

Dette var i November 2013. Jeg har spurt J flere ganger, om Bouncer har fått noe brev, men det har ikke kommet ett eneste ett. Svarene er aldri skuffa – "I’m sure there is something coming his way soon!", "Maybe it has been lost in the mail somewhere, you know how the mailservice can be..", "Bouncer is still hopeful and thanks you for your efforts!". Ansvaret faller på meg. Det var jeg som tok gleden på forskudd og gjorde den feilen at jeg sa ifra om det jeg trodde var gode nyheter. Selvfølgelig skjønner jeg at folk kan endre mening – at folk i bunn og grunn bare viste interesse og nysgjerrighet, og jeg ble bare alt for revet med og var så sikker på at folk var i ferd med å skrive.

Så jeg er bare nødt til å bite i det sure eple og innse at jeg føkka opp.

Men alt dette til side, dere – la Bouncer få en sjanse. Enten du en gang vurderte å sende i vei et brev, men det bare ikke ble slik, eller du ikke har hørt om han før. Jeg skriver igjen det jeg skriver da, og håper noen sender i vei noen linjer. Det hadde betydd utrolig mye for den fyren, det er alt jeg kan garantere.

Bouncer er 35 år og fra vestkysten av USA - California. Han er en tatovert "solid aryan man" med blå øyne. Han sitter inne med en livstidsdom uten mulighet for prøveløslatelse, og føler seg temmelig alene. Norge er ett land han er veldig fascinert av, og av hans mange tatoveringer er flere motiver som vikinger, runer osv. inspirert av vår kulturarv. Han sier han er "Odinist", mer kjent som "Åsatru" (om noen av dere så denne sesongen av "Alt for Norge" er det samme tro som Alf derfra praktiserer). Av musikk nevner han punk rock som en favorittsjanger, men liker mye forskjellig. Bouncer hadde satt utrolig stor pris på om en norsk Valkyrie (som han så fint sier) kunne funnet hjerterom til å skrive til ham, og dermed være ett lys i en ellers veldig tung og mørk tilværelse. :)

Jeg kjenner ikke "Bouncer", men det at han er en venn av J får meg til å tro at han må være en relativt bra fyr - uansett. Det introduksjonsbrevet han skrev til meg var i alle fall utrolig ydmykt, fint og høflig. Og i følge J: "he might look like a tough guy, but he is really just a big teddy bear once you get to know him!" Så jeg sier til deg, du norske valkyrie frøken - gi Bouncer en sjanse! Kanskje finner du en like kul venn som det jeg har funnet i J - uansett vil du gjøre noe utrolig fint for noen.

Bouncer nevnte hva han er dømt for i brevet, men jeg føler ikke helt for å skrive det her sånn uten videre. Er du interessert i å skrive til ham, men føler du vil vite dette på forhånd kan du bare sende meg en mail, en beskjed i kontaktskjemaet til høyre på siden eller sende meg en melding på facebook og spørre, så skal jeg fortelle det. Skrive til? - Du kan gjøre en forskjell

Jeg må si jeg ble helt utrolig positivt overrasket over responsen jeg fikk da jeg skrev om Bouncer – vi blir så utrolig glade av å se at folk er interessert i dette her! Nå håper jeg virkelig at minst en av dere setter tanken om å skrive til han ut i live, og han viser seg å være en kjempebra brevvenn!

Men dere – det er så mange andre som også hadde satt uendelig pris på å høre fra noen i den frie verden! Og det så ut til at flere syntes det var fint å få litt tips om hvem man kan skrive til. Så nå har Monika og jeg funnet ut at vi skal lete litt etter folk som virkelig ønsker og trenger brev – spesielt av dem som på nåværende tidspunkt ikke hører fra noen – og «promotere» dem her på bloggen. Håpet er at dere finner noen av dem interessante nok til å gi dem en sjanse.

Vi har også kommet frem til at vi ikke poster bilder av dem her, siden vi er av dem som synes utseende ikke bør være en avgjørende faktor for om man velger å sende noen ett brev eller ikke, sant? Men klart – vil dere på død og liv se først, er det selvfølgelig mulig. Samme med hva de er dømt for – er det viktig for deg skal du selvfølgelig få vite det på forhånd! Bare spør oss om det er noe du lurer på. :)

"Everyone deserves to be loved, regardless of past mistakes or poor decisions made in life. Even though society punishes those that commit errors, it also champions redemption. This allows us to learn from our past missteps becoming better more productive individuals. I’ve spent almost a decade behind bars now and in that time most of my friends and family have fallen by the wayside. As time goes by, people become less and less concerned about the lives of those in here, not because they are cruel but because it’s easy to forget those you never see. “Out of sight, out of mind.” That’s been the case for me, and my interaction with the outside world over these past years has been nominal at best.

I’d like to learn more about others and how best to interact with them. I’m a generous heart, an ear that listens, and a soul craving friendship. I know there are free people out there that feel exactly the same way.
